HONDA UNVEILS RC213V-S ROAD-LEGAL HYPERBIKE PROTOTYPE

The first thing that strikes us while looking at the RC-V track tool is that it seems very expensive. The whole things is made from carbon fibre, as if saying that not a single gram is out of place. In fact, the only thing separating it from the MotoGP bike are the headlights, which are mandatory for road-legal vehicles. It would be a shame to cover this beauty in racing livery, right?

Honda Racing saw fit to display two RC213V-S models at EICMA. One wears the Japanese flag and honours 100 years of the EICMA show, the other is our carbon hero, ridden onto the stage by 2013 and 2014 champion Marc Marquez.

In his typical humorous style, Marquez joked about the RCV road bike, saying `This is my road bike, made just for me.`

RC213V-S WHAT`S IN THE NAME?

`RC` are Honda`s traditional racing letter for 4-stroke bikes. The 213 says this is their work`s bike for the 21st century and the V is for the engine.

Under the carbon cladding is a 1-liter {51 cubic inch} V4 mill. It puts out an unhealthy but regulated about of power, over 200 hp of it. MotoGP-derived electronics, suspension and gearbox are going to complete what is likely one of the most extreme two-wheelers any mortal can own. Of course, the bike-maker has shied away from offering specific technical figures until the project is complete.
