CASEY STONER has pulled out of Brno after doctors advised him to have surgery on his damaged ankle.
A crash in qualifying at Indianapolis saw Stoner suffer multiple injuries to his ankle, including torn ligaments, bone damage and fractures.
Despite these injuries the reigning champion lined up on the grid on race day and finished a brave fourth position. He had hoped to ride at Brno on Friday to test his fitness but has been advised by doctors to return home to Australia to undergo surgery.
More to follow as Stoner will hold a press conference at Brno this afternoon.
The Repsol Honda rider joins Nicky Hayden and Hector Barbera on the injured list.
